Former ADST Executive Director Dan Whitman has written an account of two tumultuous years and three elections in Haiti, where he served as Counselor for Public Affairs in 1999-2001. A Haiti Chronicle: The Undoing of a Latent Democracy, 1999-2001 puts on the record some disputed or forgotten events and efforts by gritty local journalists to change Haiti's political discourse.
